It has been quite sometime since my last blog post. This has been largely due to some real life changing events in my personal life if I am being honest. Firstly, I went self employed in February of this year (2015). This had been on my mind for a long, long time (4 years to be exact) but only took the plunge this year when things felt right.

Residents of any town or city will always complain about certain aspects of where they live. Whether it is immigration issues, cleanliness, local schools, hospital care, bin collections or even how often the council cut the grass. But being a proud Peterborough resident for over 5 years now, one thing no one in this commuter city can complain about is the forward thinking of their council.

Been some time since I last blogged. In fact this is the first time this year. It’s been a real busy time for me working with Transport for London. A lot has happened.
So it was with great honour to be invited to talk at “Digital People in Peterborough” event. My talk, “What The Hell Do Users Know – Why we should accept we are all experience designers” will talk about design as a tool for problem solving. I will be giving some examples of my work with TfL and the BBC.

On a cold and wet Saturday in November I felt like a young teen again. Not since I unwrapped The Street Fighter 2 addition of the Super Nintendo all those Christmas Days ago had I been so excited to get a gaming console plugged in. For months there had been speculation who would be able to get one in the months leading up to Christmas. Even though I had mine pre-ordered, there was no guarantee I would get it before Christmas 2013. So to get mine the day after the UK release I think I had good reason to feel a little smug. But then, a few hours later, there was that deflated feeling of what could’ve been so awesome which was in fact so much the same old.

After 7 turbulent years without one of the greatest Chelsea FC managers, there was always going to be high expectations on Jose Mourinho’s return. When Jose first left Stamford Bridge, I was truly gutted to see the man who brought the league title back to Fulham Road for the first time in 50 years.

I’m a big, big music fan. I first witnessed a rave that had pitched up near my home when I was in my early teens. By lying to my parents that I was staying at A friend’s and my friend doing the same, I went to my first rave, the Pleasuredome at 14 or 15 years of age. Looking back, it was a terrible thing to do that was really irresponsive of kids that should’ve known better.

I really am loving the fact we have so many screens to work with and talk of many new ones that are going to come along in the not so distant future. Some of the things we thought belonged only within Minority Report or Bladerunner are slowly becoming part of normal life. Mobile and tablet viewports are now well established alongside the grand-daddy of all screens, desktop. IpTV is now becoming the latest addition to this Galacticos line up of ways we able to interact with data that is now being piped to these devices quicker than we could have imagined.

The last few months have been an exciting time for me on a personal front. I have welcomed my latest addition to the family, bought myself a Vespa and have been enjoying the return of a great Chelsea FC manager, Jose Mourinho. More to the point, I have been spending a little bit more of my free time doing normal things, especially during my 4 weeks paternity leave. I found that I had burnt out design and music wise. So felt, I should spend a little more time doing things every other person my age should be doing.

As you can see how I have handcrafted a new site. Thought it was time to upgrade on the previous design as that was almost 3 years old.
Having a few more bugs than I thought, so please bare with me while I fix them.

Recently, I came across a really good post on UX Mag by Joseph Dickerson called The Greatest Secrets of UX Revealed. After a few minutes and realising I had been gently nodding and gently laughing, it occurred to me that this blog post spoke volumes to me. I am lucky enough to have worked with some truly grea
